Microsoft reports that the SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business outage has been resolved. The problem was caused by an error with the services tls certificate. This issue was introduced after an update from Microsoft.
Many users reported Monday night seeing an error message when visiting SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business, BleepingComputer details . After an update, the tls security certificate for .sharepoint.de seems to have been added to the international domain. This created a discrepancy between the certificate of the Microsoft platform and users trying to connect from outside Germany.
Microsoft says affected people can get more information about the fixed issue through the Microsoft 365 admin center. The outage seems to have lasted roughly an hour.
Sharepoint Online and the underlying OneDrive for Business are part of the Microsoft 365 business subscription. The former service makes it possible to exchange and store information within a company or organization. OneDrive is a cloud storage platform.
