OpenAI’s board of directors has fired CEO Sam Altman. According to the council, Altman had not been consistently candid enough in his communications with the council. Mira Murati, OpenAI’s chief technology officer, will become interim CEO.

OpenAI announced the news via a blog post . It states that the decision was made after a “well-considered assessment process”. The board says it no longer has confidence in Sam Altman to lead OpenAI.

OpenAI also announced that Greg Brockman, co-founder and until recently president of OpenAI, will be removed from the board of directors, but will remain part of the company. However, Brockman later shared via X that he has also resigned. Altman also responded to the news via X. The man states that he found his time at OpenAI innovative and that he will release more information later.
